For our next installment of EIGHTY Live at &co, and to celebrate Women's History Month, we're bringing together a panel of five amazing women who are using the strength of their unique voices and the influence of fashion and design to empower other women and inspire their peers to make a social impact in their communities.

Denise Mercedes, Plus-size model, body positive activist, & founder of #BecauseItsMyBody
Cindy Hwang Bokser, Macrame artist & founder of Niroma Studio

At the end of our panel discussion, we will be handing out beautifully-designed postcards made by The Write Stuff team, and everyone will get to write a postcard to send to our state senators. (Pens and stamps will also be provided.)

And what's a girl's night without wine? As per usual, complimentary wine will be provided, thanks to Mana Wine. This event is FREE with RSVP.

PANELISTS:

Victory Jones, Co-founder of The Colored Girl
Victory is a creative powerhouse with a flair for the disruptive. She is a writer, a recording artist, and a songwriter. In the summer of 2016, together with her best friend and business partner Tori Elizabeth, she founded The Colored Girl: an empowering womanist movement based on diversity and inclusion, using beauty and fashion campaigns as tools of change. TCG has been featured in Teen Vogue, Essence, Cosmopolitan, Fashion Bomb Daily, and InStyle amongst others.

Denise Mercedes, Founder of #BecauseItsMyBody
Denise is a 25 year old Latina model, fashion blogger, and body positive activist living in Jersey City. In August of 2016, Denise founded #becauseitsmybody, a campaign dedicated to celebrating women and men of all sizes and color. She has worked with brands like Forever21, Target, and JC Penney, and has been featured in Buzzfeed, Bustle, and Refinery29.

Cindy Hwang Bokser, Macrame artist & founder of Niroma Studio
Cindy is a fiber artisan living in The Heights neighborhood of Jersey City. After working for more than a decade as a publicist, Cindy left her career to devote herself to her fiber art practice and founded Niroma Studio in 2015. Only a year and change in, Cindy now creates her own cotton fiber and provides a variety of Niroma Studio cotton string options to her fellow makers. Cindy also donates a portion of every sale to The Sharing Place, an organization in Jersey City that offers bags of groceries or ready-made meals to people in need, serving nutritious food to over 600 families and individuals each month.

Merica Kahn, Founder of NIA, an eco-friendly knitwear line
Born in New York and raised in New Jersey, Merica has always been in love with the fast-paced energy of the fashion industry. She graduated in 2013 from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in production management. She is launching an eco-friendly knitwear line this April for women. It will be produced locally in Brooklyn, NY.

Sofia Tomé, Founder & Creative Director of The Write Stuff
Sofia is a photographer & content creator living in Jersey City. As a response to the election, Sofia started The Write Stuff in January of this year with her friend Stefanie Gomes. TWS is an organization that brings together like-minded individuals to fight Trump's agenda. By collaborating with local artists and activists, TWS hosts community letter-writing events addressing the most pressing current issues.
